ESPN reporter Laura Rutledge has interviewed countless athletes throughout her career, but every so often, one conversation truly stands out. On Tuesday, she highlighted one of those moments, giving a special shoutout to Houston Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. after interviewing him following Houston’s dominant playoff win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night at Acrisure Stadium.
“One of my favorite interviews ever,” Rutledge wrote on social media. “Never taking the opportunity to do this for granted. Thank you, Will, for sharing your joy!”
Anderson’s postgame interview resonated with fans because of his authenticity. He openly expressed his faith, thanking Jesus for both his standout performance and the Texans’ victory. The moment became even more memorable when Anderson shared a pregame story involving teammate Sheldon Rankins. He revealed that he had told Rankins before kickoff that he dreamed something special would happen on defense.
